Connecting Crossgates provides children in East Leeds, especially those living in poverty or difficult circumstances with nutritious food, fun and activities and the chance to make friends and develop new skills during the school
Rising energy prices, unstable employment and mental health problems are amongst the difficulties facing families in East Leeds at the moment. Many find it hard to provide food during school holidays.
“I struggle during the holidays as I have to work less hours to fit around childcare. My children love the clubs so we are all happy about Easter Egg-Stravaganza” Andrea, single mum.
In partnership with Leeds Centre of Mission, we will provide 160 places in the first week of the school holidays this Easter. Our project will help to ease the extra pressure some families are under during this time.
Could you donate items for a meals box?

We are looking for businesses, community groups and individuals to donate items to make up meal boxes for a family for a week.
We partner with Fareshare & The Real Junk Food Project to distribute surplus food. We then supplement it with other essential staple items to help families make more balanced nutritional meals across the holidays.

Families need dried food (pasta, rice, cereals) tinned goods (beans, tuna, tomatoes, vegetables, soup, fruit, rice pudding, custard) sauce jars, UHT milk, sugar and teabags. A pack of biscuits or some treats for children are always welcome too!
